Denise Purcell is the first woman to be appointed State Manager for Queensland at BIC Services and the new role caps off a stellar career of hard work, success and achievement for the self-effacing superstar.

Her journey began as a day cleaner nine years ago in Brisbane city and has included roles as a Site Supervisor, Area Manager and lately as an Executive Manager with responsibility for multiple, high-profile sites across Brisbane and Queensland.

Denise is highly respected by both her clients and her staff, who turn up and work hard to deliver great services at buildings like Waterfront Place and 123 Albert Street in Brisbane city.

“Denise is a superstar, loyal and dedicated,” CEO Tony Gorgovski said when making the announcement. “She is also a great example of how women can thrive and succeed at BIC Services and in the cleaning industry.”

Denise describes herself as a team-player, with a love for structure, great polices, and good procedures. She’s won a number BIC “Excellence in Achievement” awards, completed her Certificate IV in Cleaning Management and recently led her team to win two prestigious “Dexus Building of the Year” awards – a testament to her problem-solving abilities, best practice in service delivery, leadership and hard work.

“But it doesn’t happen without a great team,” Denise is quick to acknowledge. “They are vital to everything. I’ve been there and I know what it’s like to be on the frontline and at the coal face.”

Denise also acknowledges the support and development she’s received at BIC, citing People and Culture GM, Claudia Di Bello as a mentor and guide, along with senior managers like CEO, Tony Gorgovski and Commercial Excellence GM, Mark Gerdovic.

“I have big shoes to fill,” she says modestly, “but I’m also excited to lead the Queensland team, focus down and do what I always do …just get on with the job!”

Congratulations Denise and we know you will do a great job!
