Introducing Charizza Almeda, part of the BIC Operations Support team.

We asked Charizza to spare 5 minutes of her time to answer some questions.

How long have you been working at BIC for?

I have been working at BIC for just under a year as the Help Desk Coordinator.

What does your day look like?

My day can often vary in terms of how busy I am however my main focus is on productivity and time management. As the Help Desk Coordinator, there is always something that needs to be completed so it is crucial that I stay on top of each of my tasks for the day.

What is the most important part of your role?

The most important part of my role is to ensure that all work order requests are relayed/sent to a relevant person (eg. Executive Managers). Moreover, my role involves recording and logging of work order requests within our systems. It is also important that my input is precise, detailed and accurate as we use them as our reference to keep track of every work-related request.

What do you love most about working for BIC?

At BIC, colleagues are approachable, friendly and accommodating and I find this enhances the dynamic of the workplace for me and I can work comfortably and effectively. There are some situations that I need to relay our client’s concerns to my colleagues which I can do without hesitation as everyone is accommodating. Also, suggestions and recommendations from others are welcome and this contributes to a healthy and productive team.

What skills and tools do you need to work in the cleaning industry?

Before working at BIC and within the cleaning industry, I was a Medical Laboratory Scientist in the Philippines. Through this I have learnt that knowledge and experience are not always enough to make your responsibilities more meaningful. Positive attitude is one of the most important aspects in the medical field and this includes your determination and desire to learn other things even though they may not be your forte. In order accumulate knowledge, proper communication skills are the key to get involved and to learn. It is paramount to ask if you are unsure of something or if you are eager to learn something that can possibly increase your work productivity and depth of knowledge.

Thus, in cleaning industry and as a Help Desk Coordinator, I utilise those communication skills, and have been able to learn all aspects of the business in regard to my role and the ongoing development of my communication skills allow me to do this. Moreover, more recently my time management skills have been key in allowing me to keep up to date with our increase in client reporting. Overall, communication skills, time management skills and furthering my computer skills have allowed me to stay on top of my increased workload at BIC.

Best advice you can give on working in the industry?
