2021 NATIONAL RECYCLING WEEK

BIC STAFF: GET INVOLVED NOW AND WIN A $500 GIFT VOUCHER

BIC is committed to being environmentally and socially responsible and we all play a vital role in helping our clients and their tenants reduce waste and improve recycling.

According to the ABC’s War on Waste program, Australia is one of the most wasteful countries in the world. Every year, the waste we generate is growing at twice the rate of our population.

There are Australian government national waste reduction targets and two that we can all personally help to achieve by adopting an – avoid, reduce, reuse and recycle (ARRR) mantra.

  • Reduce total waste generated by 10% per person by 2030
  • Increase resource recovery (through recycling) to 80% from all waste streams by 2030

National Recycling Week provides us with an opportunity to improve ours, our clients and their tenants recycling knowledge, build better recycling habits and reduce waste to landfill.

This benefits the environment on which we are all reliant, conserving precious natural resources and helping combat climate change. It can also save us money at home and in the workplace.

See Visy’s recycling video to see how recycled materials we recover are reused:

Recycling bins that are contaminated with general waste unfortunately get sent to landfill, so we need to ensure we not only reduce waste in the first place, but ensure we put the right materials in the right bin to maximise recycling.

In addition to adopting our ARRR mantra, we are keen to hear your creative ideas to help engage our clients and tenants during National Recycling Week, 8 – 14 November.

You could win a $500 gift voucher!

1. SHARE A CREATIVE IDEA FOR OUR NATIONAL RECYCLING WEEK CAMPAIGN

Come up with a creative idea for how we could engage our clients and their tenants in National Recycling Week to do the right thing.

The winning entry judged by our Executive Team will win a $500 gift voucher and the runner up will receive a $250 gift voucher.

Both will receive recognition during our social media promotion of the campaign in November.

Whether you have a creative idea for our campaign or not, we invite you to go into the draw for a $250 gift voucher by measuring your environmental footprint and sharing it with us, along with one thing you can do to improve it.

Don’t worry, nobody is perfect. We are not here to judge the size of your footprint, just learn from each other, share ideas and inspire change!

Simply measure your footprint with the free WWF Ecological Footprint Calculator, upload a screenshot or photo of your footprint result via the below link, and share with us one thing you can commit to doing to reduce your personal footprint.
